Top 5 Association Podcasts of The Week! – 07/04/2024

Welcome to your weekly digest of the top 5 association podcasts every association professional should listen to IMMEDIATELY.

Yes, this is early.

But what would Independence Day in the U.S. be without a curated listing of the 5 TOP PODS in the association industry this week that you absolutely cannot miss as you load up on BBQ and try to pretend that Hurricane Beryl and our upcoming U.S. election isn’t really happening?!?

*Grumble. Grumble.*

That’s it. No more political talk. Let’s discuss the pods…

1) Meeting Today’s Fast Forward Podcast – What the Future of Event Accessibility Looks Like (with Stephen Cutchins of Cvent)

This is only the 3rd episode of this podcast, Fast Forward, one of a few produced by Meetings Today.

True, this podcast is not solely focused on the association industry.

However, host Logan Pratt sits down with Stephen Cutchins, a leading authority on accessibility in the meetings and events industry, and they talk about a topic that is maybe not talked about enough – accessibility in events and the future.

This is an issue I have heard raised in Association Chat community conversations regularly over the years and it is most definitely an area that deserves more attention. Plus, I like listening to Logan…he seems like an agreeable, thoughtful person. Great for his role as host!

2) Associations Thrive – On Creating Community and Startup Culture (with Sandra Nam of Qiqo Chat)

I’ve said it before, and I will repeat it – community is one of my favorite topics!

I’m also fascinated by this story.

Have you followed what Sandra Nam and Lucas Cioffi have been doing in the association industry? It’s really kind of fascinating and I loved that Associations Thrive host Joanna Pineda explored the history of Qiqo Chat and its pivot into a community marketplace on steroids. 🙂

Close observers will note that this is Associations Thrive’s second appearance in this weekly newsletter, and there have only been three at this point. That should inform the reader that this podcast is either really lucky or really good or that they know someone on the inside of this enterprise.

  1. It is probably lucky.
  2. It is one of the best edited, produced association podcasts around, without question.
  3. They do know someone…ME! 🙂 However, they deserve all these accolades and more.

Check them out!

3) Conferli the Podcast – Harnessing Events to Maximize Advocacy Goals (with Paul Walsh of the European Business Aviation Association)

Host Bregje Frens asks great questions! Guest Paul Walsh as he talks about Paul’s strategies for using events to achieve advocacy goals and addresses the challenge of breaking down silos between event teams and other departments to foster collaboration and create a more unified organization.

This is a nice break from North American association-focused discussions I hear so much of, and it can inspire new ways of thinking about your association events.

4) Association 4.0 Podcast – Managers and Unsung Heroes (with Sharon Rice and Jennifer Proctor of .orgSource)

Sharon Rice and Jennifer Proctor share insights on how associations can empower directors and staff to reach their full potential. They share tips for avoiding burnout, staying informed, and cutting down on wasted time.

5) Association Chat – Matrix Moves, Membership Magic, and Association Insights!

I’m a dork, okay?

But I love talking about membership retention and marketing.

And now I know that I also love talking about things I wish I could do that I can’t.

Have you heard about SoAP?

The Society of Association Podcasters (SoAP) is a LinkedIn group designed for podcasters and listeners within the association community to connect, share, and discuss podcast content relevant to associations and nonprofits.

It is a platform for exchanging thoughts, topics, and reactions, promoting collaboration, and disseminating valuable podcast content.

Founding members include notable podcasters such as Dave Coriale, KiKi L’Italien (that’s me!), Ben Muscolino, Joanna Pineda, and Dave Will.

(Dave Coriale brought this baby to life, and we like it! Come be a part of it!)

Happy Independence Day!
